Cybersecurity Bills in Both House and Senate

The Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee revealed the Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act of 2010, which is intended to consolidate cybersecurity policy that is currently scattered over different federal agencies and departments. The bill would also create a National Cybersecurity and Communications Center under the DHS, and expand executive powers in the event of a cyber emergency or attack.
Additionally, yesterday the House passed a bill known as the GRID Act to protect the grid power system from attacks by granting emergency powers to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and allow them to establish new standards to minimize vulnerability.
