Cybersecurity Bill This Year?

The Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act of 2010 was never voted on by the Senate. The Cybersecurity and Internet Freedom Act of 2011 died before making it to the floor. That bill was widely criticized by the private sector, which owns most of the nation’s critical cyber infrastructure. Now, the Cybersecurity Act of 2012 is a new bipartisan bill aimed at protecting the nation’s critical infrastructure from cyber attacks. While the bill has its supporters, the US Chamber of Commerce has criticized it for being over-regulatory, while Sen. John McCain says the bill could be too expensive and is working on an alternative bill.
