Critical Infrastructure and Resilience Month

President Obama has declared this month Critical Infrastructure and Resilience month. In his proclamation, the President recognized that our nation has become increasingly dependent on physical and digital critical infrastructure.

The President also outlined the ways in which his administration has remained active in the protection of critical infrastructure. For example, he signed a Presidential Policy to improve defense against physical and cyber incidents. He also signed an Executive Order on cybersecurity, which aims to strengthen information sharing within the government and protect the privacy of Americans.

He continued by urging the people to be vigilant against foreign and domestic threats to critical infrastructure in November 2013, claiming that “emerging and evolving threats require the engagement of our entire Nation — from all levels of government to the private sector and the American people.” He proclaimed that the protection of our infrastructure is imperative to both our economy and our security.
